And more about me!
I've always felt like music is a part of my identity and love exploring different sounds and genres. It’s something that inspires me and makes me think in new ways, and I like letting that energy influence the projects I work on. Music is a part of how I express myself creatively.
I love to listen to a bit of everything. From house like Kaytranada, to romantic film music like Piero Piccioni and Henry Mancini, to R&B like Bryson Tiller and Drake. However, my main vibe is definitely Neo-soul and Jazz — some artists that inspire me are Lauryn Hill, Sade, Erykah Badu — but I also love classics like Alicia Keys and Biggie Smalls.
Music just inspires me and keeps my creativity flowing!
In one of my modules, I had the chance to play my vinyl (I have a vinyl collection) and DJ for the first time — it was such a thrilling experience. I experienced using EQ and filter cuts to blend tracks, and applying effects although there is more that I still need to learn!
In class, I also frequently work with Ableton Live to create interactive audio, as well as electronic music composition. For EMP, I do work with VCV rack.
Ableton has taught me MIDI mapping and control.
Lastly, I also have a strong passion for sketch and art! I’m a skilled visual artist, and I find that drawing and sound design share a lot in common. Both require attention to detail, a sense of composition and balance.
I have a deep love for aesthetics, harmony, and collaboration. I care about how things look, sound and sit together, and I’m at my best working with others to shape a cohesive result. I’m fueled by passion, spontaneity and bold initiative. I throw myself into projects, take creative risks, and push ideas forward. I like to express my ideas out in a team setting. My mind is investigative and insightful, I notice the small, telling details and the hidden connections that give work its character, whether it’s the exact cut that changes a scene’s rhythm or the tiny sound texture that makes a moment land. I try to think from multiple perspectives. Above all, I’m willing and want to grow. I believe in steady improvement!
